Suicide Prevention in the Asia Pacific - Barriers, Boundaries and Beyond
The conference will be organised by Sneha and IASP. SNEHA an NGO established in 1986 works in the area of suicide prevention and has been instrumental in opening similar suicide prevention centres across India. SNEHA has been involved in creating awareness about suicide prevention at the local and national level. Sneha has also undertaken community based research in tsunami area and to reduce pesticide suicides in rural Tamil Nadu.
The conference aims to provide participants an insight into various aspects of suicide and its prevention. Opportunity to exchange knowledge and share experiences will clearly be of key importance emphasis will be placed on encouraging new areas of research and the new era of young researchers.
Chennai is a city of great historic importance in India. Chennai, boasts of several fascinating tourist spots which include the museum, the second longest beach in the world and many ancient temple and churches. Chennai is known as the gateway to south India. Despite being an important city for manufacturing, Health Care and IT, Chennai managed to retain a charm of its own. It's a sprawling and busy yet a conservation city with deep traditions and cultural and hence known as cultural capital.
Throughout the conference we will provide delegates with a variety of social and cultural experiences. A range of pre and post conference tour will be arranged.
